# Frequently asked questions

> Universe Bot FAQ: where your data lives, what it costs, which accounts you need, supported models, whether Clear session forgets things and phone access.

### Does Universe Bot cost money?

It is free during the beta. Model costs depend on the services you use: your own Claude, ChatGPT or Google subscription quota, or an API key of your own.

### Is my data sent to your servers?

No. Conversations, memory and settings are stored on your own computer, and the app has no telemetry. Conversation content only goes to the AI services you choose and to any Telegram or iMessage (Photon) channel you turn on yourself.

### Do I need a paid subscription?

Not necessarily. Gemini works with a Google account, and you can also use a free API key of your own (for example a free model on OpenRouter). Free plans have smaller quotas and may train on your conversations.

### Why do I need to install tools like Claude Code and Codex?

Universe Bot uses your subscription by running the official command-line tools that you signed in to yourself. That way we never handle your account password. Please use each service according to its own terms.

### Does Clear session make an agent forget things?

Not the long-term things. Clear session only clears the current conversation; memory, personality, rules, avatar and usage history are kept, and old conversations stay viewable in history.

### Whose quota is used, and how do I see how much?

Your own account's or API key's quota, counted separately per provider. Each agent's side panel has a usage panel showing tokens for the current session, today and all time; Claude agents also show subscription quota and reset times.

### Will agents mess with files on my computer?

Not by default. Each agent has a permission level. Read and write workspace runs in a sandbox and can only change the work folder; full access to the whole computer can only be chosen by you, on screen. Agents cannot raise their own permissions.

### Can I talk to it from my phone?

Yes, through Telegram or iMessage you talk to the coordinator in the same conversation as on the desktop. iMessage runs through the third-party service Photon (photon.codes). Your computer and the app need to be running.

### Do routines run while my computer is off?

No. The next time you start the computer and open the app, the most recent missed run catches up and is labelled as such. Closing the window keeps the app in the system tray, so routines keep running.

### What happens when I run out of quota?

The app shows Quota reached and when it should be back. If you gave the agent a fallback model, it switches to the fallback and keeps working, leaving a note in the chat.

### Is Windows supported?

Not at the moment. Universe Bot supports Mac (Apple silicon and Intel) and Linux.

### Can an agent sign in to websites and do things for me?

Yes. A Claude agent with the browser switch on can open pages, click and type. When it hits a sign-in or verification step, it asks you to take over on screen and continues after you are done.
